Welcome to Blinn College
Professional Development
The Division of Academic Support Services provides support and services for Blinn College District student, faculty, and staff learning. Our professional development offerings are research-based, classroom-tested, highly practical, and universally designed.
Students
Students have access to a variety of resources through the library and Learning Centers on the Brenham and Bryan campuses, at Blinn at Texas A&M-RELLIS, and online. Services include online and print resources and materials, assistance with research strategies, test proctoring, and tutoring services. The Division of Academic Support Services also offers a series of Service Learning programs that combines community service with classroom learning.
Faculty and Staff
Faculty and staff can take advantage of both online and face-to-face workshops and trainings offered by the Division of Academic Support Services. The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) provides frequent face-to-face workshops on evidence-based instructional strategies, class climate, effective use of technology, among many other topics. Additionally, CTL sponsors faculty book clubs and other learning opportunities throughout the Blinn College District.
A variety of webinars are available through the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) and StarLink, and instructional designers assist with the development of online courses by offering online and face-to-face course-design workshops and one-on-one assistance. Funding of faculty travel for professional development is available through academic divisions and the Professional Development Funding Committee.
